Spirit Essences

Flower RemediesI have been using flower remedies and spirit essences for years. I have used them on my dogs for behavioral issues such as aggression and for health issues such as digestive issues. I even use flower remedies on myself, for stress and anxiety, and my husband, for his physical aches and pains.

They work well if used correctly. You have to be consistent in their usage though for them to be really effective. So, if you are an individual who has difficulty doing something on a daily, regular basis, flower remedies may not be for you.

BachWhat are flower essences?

The first essences were the Bach Flower Remedies, which were prepared from the flowers of plants and trees. Dr. Bach also created Rescue Remedy, a 5-essence combination. Additional flower essences, as well as animal, gem, earth, and ocean essences, have been developed by others since Dr. Bach.

Spirit EssenceHow are Spirit Essences different from other essences?

Spirit Essences’ remedies are very different from other flower essences in several important ways. Our remedies are prepared in pure artesian spring water from a local source, and enhanced with Reiki energy as well as Full Spectrum Light.

Spirit Essences use combinations of 15-20 essences in each remedy. These essences come from many of the best essence lines in the world, including Flower Essence Society, AUM Himalaya, South African Essences, Australian Living Essences, Kauai Flower Essences, Master’s Essences, Pacific Essences, Watersong Sanctuary, Green Hope Farm and our own Rocky Mountain Essences. Our remedies include essences of not only plants, but also animals, gems, butterflies, ocean life, and some very unusual ethereal essences.  We now have over 300 essences in our repertory to choose from for each remedy, so we can be pinpoint precise in addressing the needs of animals.

Dr. Jean Hofve, founder of Spirit Essences, is a holistic veterinarian and Jackson Galaxy, president, is a well-known and respected cat behavior consultant. These formulas have been proven and refined over the years with the help of our animal clients.

Spirit Essences has pioneered totally new ways of using and combining essences for multiple animal households that have proven to be very effective. Our “Ultimate” sets, using combinations of three remedies to address complex behavioral situations, have become our runaway bestsellers.

How do essences work?

In humans, mental and emotional upset can have deep and lasting physical effects. Animals too, have an active mental and emotional life. They can develop not only behavioral but even physical problems due to emotional trauma.

Essences correct a negative emotional state by “flooding” the patient with the opposite, positive quality that is the particular essence of that flower, animal, or other energy. For instance, the essence of the flower Holly is love. Therefore, you would use Holly in situations where there is a lack of love: anger, jealousy, rage. Similarly, the essence of Rock Rose is courage: it is used in cases of deep fears, panic and terror.

Essences are completely safe and non-toxic. They cannot be overused or misused, and they cannot interfere with any other treatment, conventional, alternative, or otherwise. Even if you give the wrong remedy, it will not have any negative effects, but it will simply have no effect.

 How do you give essences?

Essences are very easy to use! They can be given by mouth, added to an animal’s food or water, applied topically (usually around the head, ears, or feet), or added to a spray bottle to mist problem areas such as carrier, car, litterbox, stall, trailer, or house.

What can essences be used for?

Essences can help with the underlying energetic imbalances and stresses of many physical conditions, such as asthma, IBD, and arthritis, but we find their greatest use is in the treatment of behavior problems, such as

  • Urine marking and litterbox problems
  • Jealousy, aggression, and inter-animal conflicts
  • Separation anxiety
  • Excessive vocalization
  • Fearfulness
  • Grief
  • Acceptance of new animals or people
  • Travel stress and trailering problems
  • Problems with training or habit-breaking
  • Performance issues in show, working, and racing animals (dogs, horses, and cats)
  • Recovery from illness, injury, or surgery
  • Coping with chronic disease

 Are Spirit Essences safe?

Yes! Spirit Essences are non-toxic and natural. They are not drugs. They do not have a physical effect on the body, but rather change the animal by restoring its natural energetic balance and encouraging positive emotions and responses. There are no “side effects,” and essences will not interfere with any other alternative or Western medical treatment.

What can I expect from Spirit Essences therapy?

In most cases, one course of treatment of up to 6 weeks will be needed. Occasionally, animals need long-term, low level maintenance of Spirit Essences therapy, and most will benefit from it. In most cases, improvement will be noticeable within the first two weeks of treatment.

It is important to remember that we are not treating a specific behavior or disease, but rather addressing the underlying emotional imbalance. Essences are not drugs. They do not have a physical effect on the body, nor will they directly alter or eliminate a particular behavior. What they will do is gently change the animal by reducing internal stress and encouraging positive emotions and responses, which in turn results in beneficial effects on behavior.

What do the health remedies do?

If an animal has a physical disorder, the Spirit Essences remedy for that condition (for instance, “Happy Tummy” for intestinal issues, “Creak-Away for arthtritis, or “UR-Fine” for urinary tract problems) will provide energetic support for healing. They do not treat the disease itself. We always emphasize to our clients that Spirit Essences are not a substitute for veterinary care.
